Montique → Modular shelving system

Made in Germany — Batch 01 from winter 2026

The modular shelving system from a single element.

Most shelving systems consist of dozens of parts: shelves, brackets, rails, connectors, screws. Montique consists of one — the anodised aluminium profile with its integrated joint. Everything comes from it: sideboard, shelf wall, room divider. And when your life changes, the shelf changes with it.

One grid, one profile — beside it the whole system, stacked flat

One profile instead of a hundred parts

The basic element is an extruded aluminium profile in two formats (18 and 36 cm) whose connecting geometry is part of the profile itself — not screwed on, not glued in. The same profile stands as a side panel, lies as a shelf and divides as a divider. That is why Montique has no spare-part catalogues, no discontinued special connectors, no hidden mechanics: every part fits every other, today and in ten years.

Manufacturing takes place in Germany, in small batches, with specialist partners — more on this in the section Material & manufacture.

One grid that carries everything.

Because every profile carries the same joint, every part fits every other — today and in ten years. Extensions stay compatible across all production batches; the sideboard becomes the shelf wall without a single part left over.

Sliding instead of screwing: the joint

Assembly at Montique means this: every element slides into the same integrated joint by hand. An expansion dowel then tensions the connection, form-fitting and without play — one tool, one movement. No hunting for screw 34b, no scratched edges, no wobbly slot-together system.

And because the joint is made to be undone, the way back works too: take it apart, move house, build it again — as often as you like.

From sideboard to shelf wall — in the living room and everywhere else

The 360 mm grid thinks in cubes: two side by side as a sideboard under the window, three stacked as a slim tower, six as a shelf wall for books and vinyl, free in the room as a divider open on both sides. A cube shelf that does not end as a single piece of furniture but keeps growing as a system — from the first apartment to the house with a study.

Configure the shelving system — in minutes

In the configurator you plan your system freely on the grid: width, height, colour. The price follows transparently from the parts — one profile costs 139 €, no package mark-ups, no discount logic. If you would rather start from something ready-made: the four configurations Duo, Tower, Carré and Magnum begin at 1,383 € and can be extended at any time.

Common questions about the modular shelving system

What makes a shelving system modular?

A modular shelving system is built from a few recurring basic elements on a fixed grid that can be combined, extended and taken apart at will. At Montique it is a single element: the aluminium profile with its integrated joint on the 360 mm grid.

Can I set up the shelving system without drilling?

Yes. Montique stands freely on its own feet — no wall rail, no dowels, no drilling. That also lets it work in the middle of a room as a divider, and in rented flats without leaving a trace.

How is the shelving system assembled?

Every element slides into the same integrated joint by hand — shelves, side panels and feet all on the same principle. An expansion dowel fixes each connection with one tool in one movement, form-fitting and without play.

Can the system be rebuilt or extended later?

Yes, as often as you like: release it, restack it, extend it. The sideboard becomes the shelf wall, the shelf wall becomes the room divider. Profiles stay compatible across all production batches — extensions still fit years later.

Which rooms does the shelving system suit?

Anywhere open storage is wanted: as a living-room shelf for books and objects, as a sideboard in the dining area, as a room divider in an open plan, or as a quiet shelf wall in the study. Anodised aluminium is hard-wearing and easy to clean.

What does the modular shelving system cost?

One profile costs 139 €; the system price follows transparently from the parts of the configuration — no package mark-ups, no discount logic. Four ready-made starting points begin at 1,383 €. All prices incl. VAT. Free shipping within Germany on orders over €250. Other countries on request. Batch 01 arrives from winter 2026.
